Join Chocotastery and USDA funded Exporting Quality Program as we guide you through a Caribbean chocolate journey to the Dominican Republic!
OVERVIEW
Join Chocotastery and USDA funded Exporting Quality Program, implemented by International Executive Service Corps, as we guide you through a Caribbean chocolate journey to the Dominican Republic! During this trip we will explore the exceptional Caribbean fine flavor cacao grown by small farmers in lush tropical settings kissed by ocean breezes and nurtured by rich, natural soils in the Duarte Province.
We will meet the owners of cacao producer, Öko Caribe, Adriano de Jesus Rodriguez and Gualberto Acebey Torrejon and will then discover the diversity of flavors and be guided through a chocolate tasting of craft chocolate bars from Dominican Republic Craft Chocolate Makers: Definite Chocolate, Khao Caribe, Chin Chin Chocolate and Choco Punto.
We will get an exclusive tour of the Öko Caribe’s operation and chat with their team and the chocolate makers behind each of their chocolate bars. You will also gain knowledge of cacao production and chocolate making in the Dominican Republic and gain some hands-on experience mindfully tasting chocolate through a guided chocolate tasting in an effort to deepen your appreciation and love for craft chocolate from the Dominican Republic.

The USDA-funded Exporting Quality Program is implemented in the Dominican Republic by the International Executive Service Corps, a US based nonprofit that seeks private enterprise solutions to problems of poverty in developing countries. The program is focused, in part, on supporting Dominican cacao and chocolate professionals to improve and promote their products for export. As a result of collaborative efforts, the DR recently celebrated its first local festival and chocolate awards.
ProDominicana is Dominican Republic’s export and investment center that promotes exports and investment in the Dominican Republic. It provides assistance to the export sector through a professional staff committed to offering a high quality and timely service.
