Built in 1911 as a house of wor­ship orig­i­nal­ly for the First Church of Christ Sci­en­tist, it was designed by Car­rere and Hast­ings, the New York-based firm who set the tone of the Amer­i­can clas­si­cism of the twen­ti­eth cen­tu­ry.
