This ral­ly is orga­nized by AFSCME DC 33 Local 427, the Cam­paign for a Just Philly Bud­get, and Philly DSA. 

Since the begin­ning of the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic, Philly’s san­i­ta­tion work­ers have main­tained an essen­tial city ser­vice with­out suf­fi­cient PPE, test­ing, or haz­ard pay. San­i­ta­tion work­ers and their fam­i­ly mem­bers are falling sick due to unsafe work­ing con­di­tions. Mean­while, May­or Ken­ney is threat­en­ing to cut fund­ing for the streets depart­ment by $18 mil­lion, while increas­ing fund­ing for the police by $14 million.

On Tues­day, June 9th, ral­ly at City Hall and call City Coun­cil in sup­port of the proud san­i­ta­tion work­ers of AFSCME Dis­trict Coun­cil 33, Local 427. San­i­ta­tion work­ers are demand­ing haz­ard pay, PPE, enforce­ment of work­place safe­ty stan­dards, test­ing for all essen­tial work­ers, and ful­ly-fund­ed pub­lic ser­vices for all.
